I'm a biologist with a background on microbial ecology, molecular biology and bioinformatics. My work has uncovered novel molecular aspects of the ecology and evolution of cyanobacteria and other microbes through the study of the genomics, phylogenetics and secondary metabolism of understudied and novel taxa. My current research is focused on evaluating the interactions between cyanobacteria and mosses using transcriptomics and nitrogen fixation measurements to estimate where these interactions stand in the mutualism-parasitism continuum.
