The importance of science editors in Danish news

Science editors in Danish news

After more than 15 years of interacting with different Danish science editors at Danish newspapers and magazines, we find it relevant to recognize what we consider important for how our science has been communicated over the years and to feature an editor, who has made an extraordinary good impression.

We would like to feature an editor or journalist who has:

  • made a clear description after reading the original research paper and after being in a dialog with the scientists behind the research
  • focused on the science and not the scientists
  • focused on new knowledge and implication and not entertainment
  • focused on graphics to enhance the story behind the science
  • demonstrated professionalism and compassion in their work

The prize for the best article goes to Klaus Dohm, journalist from Morgenavisen Jyllands-Posten.

The book The Ice-free Greenland is on the way to Klaus Dohm – congratulation!

Sorry for science editor Jens Ramskov from Ingeniøren for being an example of a science editor not being able to fulfil any of the above-mentioned criteria.
